We became the Drop off and Distribution Center for West Houston and Katy during the April Tax 2016 Floods. We assisted many families in our local neighborhoods during this time. We carried this on during the May Memorial Weekend floods in our surrounding areas as well. We have ongoing aid assisting these families getting back in their homes and collect furniture, beds and other necessities on their behalf. This will be ongoing for several months.
Our Outreach Center consists of a Food Pantry: water, food, personal necessities and baby items, and a freezer with meat and other frozen foods. The Food Pantry is open weekly Monday - Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Saturdays from 8:30 am to 10:30 am and Sundays from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.
We host Showers of Love every Tuesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and supply a home cooked meal to our street friends as well as offer them use of our showers. We do a laundry ministry and supply them with fresh towels and wash cloths. We are happy to partner with Hope Impacts for this weekly event. We have a rotation of volunteers and cooks for this event.
We are partnered with Clothed By Faith and aid with clothing as well. There is always clothing to sort through and deliver.
The Outreach Center also has a program to assist single mothers and widows with numerous needs.
We have numerous ongoing opportunities to get involved with The Waters Church Outreach Center. Please email email@example.com.
And he asked Jesus, “Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied, “’Love the LORD your God with all of your heart, and with all of your soul, and with all of your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The rest of the Law, and all of the teachings of the prophets, are but variations of these themes.”
1 John 3:18
My dear children, let’s not just talk about love, let’s practice real love.
Jesus Christ told His followers that there are two important commandments: to love the Lord and to love our neighbors. We believe that loving God causes us to love others better, and we believe that loving others includes bringing God’s love in tangible acts of service. When we serve others, we fulfill the Great Commandment, and we experience great personal fulfillment and joy as well.
