Our Story

WE ARE THE CHURCH!  WE ARE THE WATERS!

The planted seed

Long before The Waters Church came into existence, God planted a seed in the mind of our Lead Pastor, Clint, at the age of 16, while attending a mission trip in Honduras. The Holy Spirit spoke to Clint saying, "I want you to serve me as a minister in the local church for the rest of your life”. Clint began serving the Church in several areas of Oklahoma and Texas. During this time, God began showing Clint His desires for The Waters Church, authentic community and biblical relationships.

2002

Clint began forming a team of leaders who started to dream about a biblically-based, nondenominational church that follows the roadmap given to us in the New Testament. During this same time, Clint’s friend had a unified heart of belief for this new church and committed to support the launch of it. The leaders adopted the name, “The Waters Church”, out of Isaiah 55:1, "All who are thirsty, come to the waters”.

September 2003

Clint and two families moved from the DFW area to Katy, TX. With a two-year financial investment, and a few families, The Waters Church began in a living room of Cinco Ranch.

January 2004

The Waters grew out of homes and moved into a small cafeteria at Texas Christian School in Katy.

june 2004

The Waters made a bold move to the Midnight Rodeo, a country and western bar located in the Katy Mills Mall.  The Children's Ministry, SPLASH, met across the sidewalk in the AMC Theater. The Waters met in this bar and theater for two and a half years, setting up and tearing down each Sunday as a mobile church. A fervent, durable heart and culture was forged in the church during these precious years. Many people were led to Jesus while meeting here.

June 2009

The Waters had substantially grown to a point where they could afford their own space. The church moved into a shopping center on North Mason Road for the next 11 years. God brought significant growth and maturity to this young church during these years.

January 2017

The Waters leadership purchases 3.4 acres on Katy Fort Bend Road to build a future home.

August 2021

Learning from the COVID experience and the financial hardships it brought, church leadership decided to terminate the shopping center lease. The Waters became a mobile church at the Palacio Maria, while launching construction on their new building at the Katy Fort Bend property.

may 2023

The Waters Church moved into its new building! Throughout our 20-year history, the Lord has shown us what it means to be a local, New Testament church. A culture of persistent determination to biblical teaching, vulnerability, and authenticity among church members and staff who relentlessly pursue Jesus-centered evangelism, discipleship, and advancing the Kingdom of God.
