REAL PEOPLE WALKING TOGETHER TOWARD A CLOSER RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS

 WELCOME TO THE WATERS

TWC-PANO.png

Real people walking together toward a closer relationship with Jesus.

We do this by gathering to worship, growing in God’s love and truth, and going out to serve the world.

CORE VALUES

  • Our aim is to consistently develop and increase our relationship with Christ, His teachings, and His Kingdom.

  • Our goal is to live with sincerity, vulnerability, and honesty.

  • Our strongest resource is the Holy Spirit, and our best life is lived following His lead.

  • Our foundation for life and security is God's Word...period.

  • Our love for God translates into loving relationships with people.

  • Our greatest product to the world is the Grace of God. We preach it, we present it, and we are preserved by it.

CORE DOCTRINES

  • There is One God, with No One Above or Beyond Him

    Deuteronomy 4:35, 39; Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:6

    DEUTERONOMY 4:35, 39

35 You were shown these things so that you might know that the Lord is God; besides him there is no other.

39 Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.

    DEUTERONOMY 6:4

4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

    EPHESIANS 4:6

(There is) one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

  • Jesus Christ is God incarnate; born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, became the final sacrifice for sin on the cross, raised to life three days later, then ascended into heaven

    John 1:18; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Hebrews 4:15; 10:10; Luke 24:46, 51; Acts 1:9-11

    JOHN 1:18

No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

    ISAIAH 7:14

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

    MATTHEW 1:23

“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

    HEBREWS 4:15

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.

    HEBREWS 10:10

And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

    LUKE 24:46

He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day.

    ACTS 1:9-11

10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

    LUKE 24:51

While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven.

  • The Holy Spirit is actively involved in human history up to present time and beyond

    John 14:16-17; 15:26; 16:13; Job 33:4

    JOHN 14:16-17

16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

    JOHN 15:26

“When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.

    JOHN 16:13

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

    JOB 33:4

The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

  • God exists in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

    2 Corinthians 13:14; Matthew 28:19; 3:16-17 + Deut 6:4

    2 CORINTHIANS 13:14

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

    MATTHEW 28:19

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

    MATTHEW 3:16-17

16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

    DEUTERONOMY 6:4

4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

  • The Bible is God's Word to all people, written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living and demonstrates God’s loving pursuit of all people.

    Isaiah 40:8; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Hebrews 4:12; Psalm 119:105,160; Psalm 12:6; Proverbs 30:5-6; 1 John 4:16; 2 Timothy 1:13

    ISAIAH 40:8

The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.

    2 Timothy 3:16

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness

    2 Peter 1:20-21

Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

    HEBREWS 4:12

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

    Psalm 119:105,160

105: Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

160: The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.

    Psalm 12:6

The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times.

    Proverbs 30:5-6

Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar.

    1 JOHN 4:16

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.

    2 Timothy 1:13

Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
